Location: Kyiv, Ukraine (& Online)
Phone: Available at request
Email: chaban_d@ukr.net
Website: www.instagram.com/shrink_notes_of_a_therapist; www.facebook.com/shrinkdmytrochaban; www.shrink-ua.com/aboutshrink
Nationality: Ukrainian
Languages Spoken: English, Ukrainian, Russian
Religious Affiliation: Open
Clinical Specialties: Open to different approaches and techniques in psychotherapy, I specialize in gestalt therapy, a phenomenological model of therapy that makes accent on 3 principles: awareness, responsibility and relevance “here-and-now”. I work with individuals as well as couples (graduated from “Therapy and Counseling of Families and Couples” program) on broad amount of topics. My personal interests are: choices and responsibility in life; family and relationship; stress; work and life balance; doing “work of your dream rather than dreaming of a work”; “my wants” vs “my should nots or musts”; living to the fullest rather than coping with life; addictions (alcohol and compulsive eating); development and attachment; psychosomatic and body symptoms; feelings and emotions; time and finitude of being.
Cross-Cultural Experience: I had worked for 15 years in business (specializing in marketing and brand management) in all kinds of world known international companies: AB InBev, Carlsberg Group, Unilever, Vodafone Group (to name just a few) – before I quit marketing, got my Master of Science in the field of Psychology, had 6+ years of education in counselling and became a counsellor and therapist. Being a part of multinational business teams I had worked together with my colleagues from different markets who had got their contracts and assignments to work in Ukraine. Like no other counsellor I understand what moving cross-culturally means for expats as I have been by their side for more than 10 years now, seeing their process of coming to a different country and culture, adapting, working, fulfilling their goals or failing to and leaving (or staying in Ukraine for life, as some did). My cross-cultural experience and interests spread overseas to the state of Colorado in the US, where – in cooperation with Colorado Institute for Conflict Resolution (www.weinholds.org) – we have been investigating the differences and similarities between people in Western (e.g. North American) and Eastern (i.e. Ukrainian) cultures, history and ways in lives, conducting workshops and seminars on the topics.
