I offer individual and couples counseling and psychotherapy services for English-speaking adults and adolescents in Lyon. I also provide distance (online) counseling to people living elsewhere in France. I specialize in working with expats and international students who are struggling with emotional or personal difficulties (such as adjustment issues, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, etc.), as well as those who want to develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion and build more meaningful and satisfying relationships with those around them. Common presenting concerns include depression, anxiety, cultural adjustment issues, difficulties in intimate relationships, cross-cultural or intercultural relationships, trauma, and grief. I have extensive training in a number of different therapeutic approaches (e.g., interpersonal, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, and mindfulness-based approaches) and work from an integrative perspective.
I am originally from the east coast of the United States (Northern VA/DC area), and I have now been living in Lyon since 2014 with my French partner. I am therefore intimately familiar with the challenges of moving and living abroad and of being in a cross-cultural relationship. Prior to moving to France, I had experience working in both community mental health centers and (more recently) in university counseling centers in the United States.
