- Profile
I am a neuroscientist and perinatal mental health therapist who helps women understand what is happening in their brains, emotions, and sense of self during pregnancy and the transition to motherhood. I bring together research, clinical insight, and lived experience to support women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the complex identity shifts that come with becoming a mother.
Becoming a parent changes everything, but not always in the ways people expect, and rarely in ways that are clearly explained. Many of my clients, who are used to functioning at a high level, are surprised by how disorienting and difficult this stage of life can feel. Much of my work begins in the gap between what you thought this experience would feel like and what is actually happening—in your mind, your body, your relationships, and your sense of self.
My work focuses on the psychological transition to motherhood, sometimes called matrescence. This can include changes in identity, relationships, work, mental load, expectations, and the way you experience yourself. I also support women navigating anxiety, depression, stress, guilt, and overwhelm during pregnancy and postpartum.
I also work with partners who want to better understand their role in this transition, share the mental load more effectively, and support their family in a more connected, intentional way.
I work with clients virtually and primarily support individuals and families navigating life in Europe or internationally. For those raising families outside their home country, pregnancy and new parenthood can bring additional questions around identity, support, culture, and expectations. I help clients make sense of what they’re experiencing and build support that fits their lives and families. This work is about helping you feel more like yourself again, while also growing into who you’re becoming.
Originally from Canada, I’ve lived in Belgium and the United States and now call France home, where I’m raising two children with my husband. I practice within Bergeseen Group, an international women’s mental health practice supporting clients across countries and cultures.
