Whether you are experiencing psychological distress, difficulties living abroad or feeling overwhelmed by the complexities of life, we can work together to find clarity and a way to move forward. I work with people online and offer an initial 20 minute session free of charge 🙂
Hi! I am Christy. I work with adults supporting them through the various difficulties they may experience in life. At the moment, I travel between Australia and Germany and accept international clients.
I have worked within the international school system for over ten years, focusing on issues relevant to self identity, psychological distress (especially depression and anxiety), academic concerns, neural diversity (e.g. strategy development for people with ADHD), transition and family complexities.
I myself practice mindfulness and can see the benefits and worth from a positive mental health perspective, I hold qualifications in mindfulness training.
We are all unique individuals with unique experiences, this is what informs my approach. I work from a humanistic perspective where the needs of the individual are addressed in an open and compassionate manner. Cognitive Behavioural techniques are intertwined within my practice as it brings thoughts into awareness and encourages invaluable insight into our behaviour. With this knowledge in mind, we can better learn to work through the problems in our lives both internally and externally.
Having worked in Berlin for the past 10 years in the international community, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate your surroundings as an expat, whether you are at the start, middle or end of your journey abroad. The challenges and difficulties faced as an expat can significantly impact upon your mental well-being. I also have experience working with those people who may consider themselves to be ‘Third Generation Individuals’ and the complexities it can bring with it.
I also offer support to students for organisational and emotional needs. I have worked extensively with secondary school students (particularly IB students) for issues related to self-care, stress management, organisation and mental health support.
Meditation and mindfulness are a part of my practice. Its an important skill which can ease the chaos we experience everyday.
