Hi! I’m Molly Toomey, an American therapist, social worker, and migrant living in Germany. I offer queer- and trans-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, kink-allied, and trauma-informed counseling in English to help people gain insight on their past and present, break free of patterns that don’t serve them, enjoy better relationships and greater self-worth, and step into the life they want.
My mission is to provide affirming, accessible, trauma-informed mental health support to folks who live outside the mainstream and often feel misunderstood or unseen, with a focus on:
◆ Migration & culture—supporting immigrants, expats, folks with culturally mixed or migrant roots, digital nomads, and other internationals
◆ Gender, sexual, & relationship diversity—supporting LGBTQIA+ folks, alternative sexualities and relationship models (BDSM/kink-affirming)
◆ Neurodivergence—supporting folks who are autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, bipolar, and beyond
– …and others who tick differently: spiritually alternative folks, people involved in subcultures, etc.My goal is to help you move toward YOUR goals—supporting you in rewiring your brain for greater self-confidence and healthy, secure, stable connection along the way.

I’ve been in the business of helping people since 2010. Through counseling, psychotherapy, social work, sex education, and community advocacy, I’ve helped hundreds of people of all ages move toward inner clarity, confidence, connection, and liberation, working across gender and sexuality, language, culture, and country borders. I started out as a community-based sexuality educator and sexual health counselor, then brought this passion into my training and professional work as a therapist and clinical social worker. I provided individual psychotherapy and counseling in English and Spanish, spearheaded initiatives to connect LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent kids and parents to social and psychological support and community, and worked to shatter stigma about immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, and mental health. I now have a private practice focused on supporting migrants and expats, LGBTQIA+ / Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diverse communities, and neurodivergent folks. I work holistically and on multiple levels, supporting my communities through individual counseling and therapy, social work, and advocacy.
My counseling approach draws from intensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, a relational orientation, and a systemic, intersectional lens—as well as many years of clinical experience and social work. I believe that our relationships and the systems we’re in shape how we live and love, and that deep, genuine, attuned connection helps us heal from relational wounds and live our most authentic, fulfilling lives.
I am unapologetically queer- and trans-affirming, neuro-affirming, kink-affirming, and sex-positive. To me, being affirming is an active process: it means recognizing and respecting my clients’ identities and autonomy, and actively working to create an inviting, supportive space for them to be their full selves without judgment while gently dismantling internalized shame and stigma.
My approach is also informed by my own lived experiences as someone from a low-income background, a neurodivergent queer person with alternative lifestyle practices, someone who’s been both the majority and the minority, the local and the foreigner. I personally get what it’s like to be “in-between” and struggle with identity, community, belonging. Counseling with me is a space where you get to be who you are (whether queer, trans, questioning, or exploring!), find community with someone who “gets it” personally and professionally, and belong. I’m not a “blank-slate” therapist; I show up more fully in the therapeutic space than traditional therapists.
I am a native English speaker and can also offer support in German and Spanish.
I’d love to help you move through painful experiences (past and present), step out of isolation and alienation, and get connected with others and yourself!
