- Profile
My work as a psychotherapist is focused on helping clients overcome anxiety. I use mostly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat social anxiety, general anxiety, panic attacks, public speaking anxiety, phobias, and others. Because anxiety is so common and part of the human condition, much research has been done about it. There’s a lot we know about it and, as a result, we have very effective treatments available to us.
Often, anxiety is triggered by or happening alongside other issues, which I’m familiar working with: sadness/depression, anger, intimate relationship issues, family/sibling conflict, career challenges, cultural adjustment, parenting, divorce & breakups, life transitions, and addiction.
Understanding a person’s struggle, their experience, their perspective, and their goals are my top priorities. I strongly believe therapy is only effective when there is full acceptance from the therapist, trust, and confidentiality.
In addition to CBT, I draw off Client-Centered, Solution-Focused, and Psychodynamic thinking. My professional experience includes a variety of settings in the San Francisco Bay Area and Japan: non-profit mental health clinic, public and private schools, UCLA, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
