- Profile
Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I seek to hold a healing space for my clients that feels nurturing, warm, present, thoughtful, and sprinkled with a touch of humor. Within that space, I gently challenge clients to grow in the directions that they seek, as we reflect together on their lives and understand and work through the painful parts.
My psychotherapy approach blends different psychological perspectives, including relational psychodynamic, trauma perspectives, and some elements of cognitive behavioral therapy. My approach suits people who are drawn to going inwards in deeper exploration and understanding of themselves, those who would like to be supported as they do deeper emotional processing and working through, and those who like the idea of weaving together a narrative of their life that makes sense of their various patterns in past and present.
A little about me: I am Lebanese-Egyptian-American and lived in over 11 cities across Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, and the United States. I am therefore intimately familiar with and interested in issues related to third culture kids, ethnic identity, hyphenated identities, immigration, the expat experience and cross cultural adjustments.
I have also consulted with organizations working on psychosocial needs of refugees in Lebanon for several years and therefore have familiarity with the unique stressors facing humanitarian aid workers.
I have an academic background where I was an Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut for five years. My approach to psychotherapy is therefore also anchored in a sophisticated understanding of psychological research and theory.
Broadly, I have expertise in helping people with various kinds of emotional pain and difficulties relating to depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, grief, loneliness, family and relationship issues. I have a specialty in working with trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and a special interest in working with the LGBTQ community.
Thank you for stopping by, and I look forward to hearing from you!
