- Profile
Non-pathologizing individual and couples sessions and intensives; advanced Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, couples and sex therapy trained.
I work with a diverse range of client identities across geographies, and the tone is informal and non-hierarchical. I help people get unstuck from the body level up, and clear trauma, make decisions, negotiate relationship and sexuality challenges, and breakthrough barriers to creative, athletic and professional performance. I also have specialist training in psychedelic / ketamine therapy and addictions (specifically substance dependencies)My background is partly grounded in Buddhist psychology and Contemplative Psychotherapy (approaches originating out of Boulder, Colorado’s Naropa University — Tibetan, heart based approaches). Its focus was partly on eliminating default agendas that come from the therapist’s culture and the default training in the field, which usually gets in the way of authenticity and healing. Brainspotting and contemporary sex therapy equally has a spirit of working with the client’s nervous system and life, without imposing an overlay of morals, ideas, or aggressions. This work deserves a radically safe space for clients to go to where their systems are calling them.
Working outside the constraints of American insurance systems means clients have sessions tailored around THEIR needs, not the documentation requirements of Fortune 500 companies or outdated practices mandated by exam and licensing bodies :) Somatic therapies are decades ahead of the status quo. Decolonizing/ non-pathologizing therapy goes against the mainstream framework- but it’s where the most healing and progress lives.
I work with people of all genders and identities, orientations and expressions, have CNM and kink-informed therapy training, and couples training in PACT and The Couples Institute.
You won’t experience a white lab coat “professionalist” distance; that’s just a way to keep therapists safe from their own fears of losing control, and mainstream therapists have that fear trained into them. This is much more fluid and off the cuff, but allows for much more thorough work.Every client’s process is unique and I don’t have an out of the box workflow. I can create structure with you, but it’s not pre-fab. This allows for way more precision and safety.
I work primarily in a sexual harm survivor clinic in New Zealand with a focus on healing individual trauma and doing couples work, but my background is much more expansive.
