- Profile
My name is Karina Lagarrigue, moved around the world since I was only 15 days old, hypersensitive and hyperempathetic from birth, and passionate about communication and interculturality.
However, it was only after finishing my studies in psychology and moving with my husband to the center of Europe (Brussels) that I discovered to what extent my personal experiences and personality traits had made me my most powerful work tool.
However, my learning curve reached its highest point in 2018, when my family and I were transferred to Dublin and I had to go through one of the hardest processes of my life: the adaptation to my bi maternity, the grief of my professional growth in Brussels and adapting to a new country and culture at the same time.
It was the context of absolute loneliness and social incomprehension and the deep darkness in which I plunged myself in that led me to see the pain suffered in silence by those who live in “international golden cages”.
To rescue them and give light to their suffering, with solid arguments that would allow them to be sustained over time, I launched myself into the exciting adventure of writing my doctoral thesis.
And since then, I have dedicated my time to studying and accompanying expatriation processes, transitions to international motherhood and fatherhood, and understanding the interpersonal adaptation processes that occur between couples in all these contexts. Creating a unique therapeutic method, that helps couples to grow out of the expat-life challenges;
CROSSBOARDING THERAPY
My goal is clear: to free them from labels and stereotyped patterns and help them to grow in each of their international projects. Taking as much, or even more from each international experience and learning tools to reduce the impact and pain after each transfer/move.
I strongly believe there is no such thing as “pain attached to a certain lifestyle”, and international, highly mobile, expat life…all are great opportunities to grow with the right tools to overcome the challenges.
