Todd Junkins

I am an American LCSW offering depth-oriented psychotherapy online for expats, international professionals, and globally mobile adults — working with clients in Illinois, USA and Europe from my base in Sweden.

My practice focuses on three areas where I have particular depth of experience: adults navigating identity, loss, and relational change after an international move; parents and new parents whose own childhood experiences are being stirred by the demands of raising children; and sensitive or gifted adults who feel, perceive, and think with unusual intensity but have struggled to make that intensity work for them rather than against them. I also work with people struggling in relationships, anxiety and grief.

I draw on psychoanalytic and relational frameworks, informed by an internship at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis and an Advanced Psychotherapy Fellowship. My academic training includes an MA from Yale and an MSW from the University of Chicago.

I moved from Chicago to Sweden several years ago and built my practice here serving the international community. That crossing — the identity disruption, the grief for what was left behind, the work of becoming someone in a new place — is not background to my clinical work. It is part of it. I have some experience from the inside what my international clients are navigating.

I see adults 18+ in individual therapy. Sessions are conducted online by secure video. I work in English and am available to clients across time zones in Europe and Illinois, USA.
