- Profile
I qualified as a Psychologist (FMBPsS) and CBT Therapist in Scotland in 2008. I currently provide video call sessions comprising Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Specialised CBT for insomnia, Specialised CBT for ADHD, Compassion Focused Therapy, ACT (for physical health problems, ADHD and addictions) and person-centred counselling. I’m professionally insured to see clients all over the world and I’m fully registered with psychotherapy professional bodies: the British Psychological Society, the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies) and the EABCP (European Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies). Please see the credentials box at the bottom for further details about my qualifications and experience.
My 1 hour sessions are £75 and I provide invoices and receipts for insurance reimbursements. I currently live in the UK and can provide evening sessions up to 8:30pm London time. I work with clients living in various places, ranging from Europe, to the USA, to India, Thailand, Hong Kong, South America and sub-Saharan Africa.
Some more about my international background: Whilst I was growing up several of my family members lived abroad, or had emigrated, to the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan, and so I was always aware of my family’s experience of other cultures and lifestyles. During my psychological therapy training I worked in all 4 parts of the UK: Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and gained experience of working with people from different areas and backgrounds. I previously worked as a CBT Therapist in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual team in London, where I provided CBT and counselling for clients from all over the world, and I often worked with asylum seekers, refugees, expats, embassy staff and international students, and worked alongside interpreters in therapy.
I’ve been fortunate to have opportunities to work overseas myself, and so I have first-hand experience of culture shock and reverse culture shock. I met a lot of expatriates from a variety of cultures, and many people who identify as a Third Culture Kid whilst working short-term in Vietnam, Bolivia, Denmark, Greece, USA and New Zealand. This has been invaluable experience for me in understanding different backgrounds and developing my cross-cultural competence in providing therapy.
