- Profile
I am a registered and highly skilled family therapist who is trained to work with children, young people, youths, adults, careers, other professionals and organisations or systems. My aim is not to take sides, blame, or provide simple answers. Rather, aim to engage individuals and family members in finding constructive ways to help each other. I work in ways that acknowledge the contexts of people’s families and other relationships by sharing and respecting individuals’ different perspectives, beliefs, views and stories, and exploring possible ways forward. Family Therapists’ areas of particular experience and expertise include: Parenting issues – we help parents/ guardians to help their children, Paediatric/ Child and adolescent behaviour, including problems with attention and over-activity (ADHD), school refusal, oppositional behaviours and other forms of challenging behaviours, Paediatric/ Child and adolescent emotional health i.e big worries, feeling very sad, coping with difficult feelings, Supporting children, young people and adults post-trauma (including conflict-related trauma at home, work, schools etc), Understanding and adjusting to issues of life cycle transitions and changes for the child and the wider family, Self-harm, suicidal tendencies and other forms of destructive behaviours, Grief following bereavement and loss, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Fostering and adoption and related issues, Drug and alcohol misuse, Domestic violence, Difficulties relating to ageing, Emotional disorders including anxiety and depression in family members, HIV and related conditions, Supporting family members through separation, mediation and divorce, Family relationships and changes in family life/ life cycle stages, Adult mental health/ parental mental health, Anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders, Social policy e.g. child welfare and protection, Marriage and Couple relationships
I have a broad range of personal and professional experience having lived and working cross-culturally around the world including in England and Zambia.
